Mamoru just laughed at Hibiki when she accused him of making the map sound like a textbook, though he smiled proudly when she claimed to have memorized it. It showed that she really took her ambitions seriously, especially given the fact that she was usually too hyper to memorize much of anything. The girl went on to mention that she'd been making plans regarding her team and what route she would take throughout Kanto. Most trainers liked to take a somewhat circular approach to the region, hitting gyms one at a time. Mamoru did just that, beginning his journey by tackling a popular first choice, the Pewter City gym. Of course, seeing how he had to skip a gym entirely, one might say that his plan wasn't working quite as smoothly as he would like. "So what kind of Pokemon are you hoping to catch?" he asked, wanting to know some favorites of hers. Researching the strengths and weaknesses of different creatures online and in libraries would allow even a non-trainer to get a sense for what kind of Pokemon they wanted, and for someone as passionate about her dreams as Hibiki, Mamoru suspected that she definitely more than a few tough choices to make.

Depending on how long it took for the girl to answer Mamoru's question, the door to the lab proper would suddenly open and disrupt their conversation. Standing in the now open doorway was the familiar tall figure of the Pokemon Professor, a renowned elderly man who is said to have been quite the trainer back in his day. "Ahhhh, there she is! I'm sure I don't have to ask if you're ready, Hibiki." the gray-haired man said with a grin, gesturing toward the lab through the doorway, offering for the girl to head right in. Mamoru smiled, ready to follow Hibiki as soon as she went in.
